Centre for Men & Families
Improving men's mental health for a brighter future.
The challenge
CFMF is a men's mental health charity whose website is genuinely load-bearing: men in difficult moments find their local circle, events and counselling through it. The old WordPress site was slow, expensive to maintain and carried 14 years of accumulated URLs and search history — including a domain migration — that could not be lost. For a charity, every dollar spent on hosting and maintenance is a dollar not spent on the mission.
What we did
An SEO-safe migration, engineered
We inventoried every URL the old site had ever earned — pulling Search Console data, not just the sitemap — and built a tested 301 map covering the site and its legacy domain. The cutover was staged so nothing ever went dark.
Rebuilt with Claude Code on Astro
The site was rebuilt as a fast, modern Astro build — group pages for every men's circle across Australia, events, counselling and content — produced with Claude Code in a fraction of traditional agency hours.
Built to run on nothing
Hosting moved to Netlify's free tier. Ongoing platform costs went to effectively zero, and content edits that used to need a developer now take minutes.
The work covered
WordPress → Astro migration, full-history URL inventory and 301 mapping, Netlify hosting, structured data, GA4 + Search Console measurement.
The outcome
The search equity didn't just survive the migration — it compounded: organic clicks grew from 9 to 149 a month immediately after cutover as Google consolidated the old domains' authority onto the new site. The charity now runs a faster site for essentially no ongoing cost, with rankings intact for the local searches — men's circles by city and region — that connect men to real help.
